The University of Rennes 2 is committed to research-creation theses and awards a “Research-creation thesis” label to theses in the plastic arts, literature (French and foreign), performing arts, architecture, design, aesthetics and music carried out within the Arts, Letters, Languages doctoral school of the ED ALL Bretagne.
This label recognises research on the arts and by the arts themselves, in a reflexive movement between production and creation.
To date, the University of Rennes 2 has 25 theses with the ‘Research-creation’ label (6 of which have been defended). Four examples of theses awarded the ‘research-creation’ label are highlighted on the Les nouvelles de Renne 2 website.
